2011 in Pictures

So, for fun, since we just began a new year (2012!! wow!) I'm going to do a little recap of the year that was 2011. It was...a year full of ups and downs to say the least. It was definitely another year in which God blessed me richly with so many things and people and circumstances, but there were also some tough things to go through (in which He was growing me into someone who relies more fully on Him!) I lost some relationships that I had previously held so dear, but I also gained several others and have been blessed with another year as friends with so many dear people in my life. So all in all, God is still always good. For the first time, I did a "picture of the day" challenge and I made it! I took/posted a picture every day of the year, so this makes this little task a lot easier for me =) Here we go!

January - I started off the very beginning of the year leaving Lexington (again) and taking with me my mom and Abby! This was the last time any of the 3 of us were there and we left about 6am New Years Day and set off on a 4ish day cross-country road trip. God protected us the entire way and the storms and bad weather generally seemed to be directly behind us. Mom and I jokingly called it the "Burger Tour Across America", eating Backyard Burger (in Tennessee), Whattaburger (in Texas), Lottaburger (in New Mexico), and In-n-Out (in California) in the span of about 4 days...and mom tried her first Pinkberry, in California! It was definitely a memory we'll never forget!

In February, I worked a ton at UW and met a girl who would end up becoming my roomie (Heather!)...sadly I don't have a picture with her from that night but, from the first time we met, we both said we knew we'd be great friends! Here's some work related pictures:

and I did a crazy little thing I'd been wanting to do for YEARS and finally got up the nerve to do - got my nose pierced!!

In March, mom, Abby, and I moved out of my little studio apartment (my first place on my own!) into a 3-bedroom condo (amidst a bunch of snow) about 5 minutes away...the place where my roommate would soon live with me after my mom had moved out (but that's later to come =)

I also had 2 very special visitors
went on a weekend retreat with a big group of friends
and my Kentucky Wildcats made it into the Final Four!!

In April, I started a summer-long internship with the Seattle Mariners, one that would change my life and give me so many incredible opportunities. To be honest, Opening Day was the first MLB game I'd ever been to and quite possibly the first game of its kind I'd watched in its entirety. Baseball was the last thing I saw myself working in but God had other plans =)

Also, our church (Mars Hill Church) held the biggest church service ever to be held in the Pacific Northwest on Easter Sunday at Qwest Field (now Century Link Field - home of the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders)...there were over 17,000 people and 600+ baptisms. Incredible. Unforgettable.

In May, my friend Shelly & I had a near death experience when this happened on the way to one of our friends' bachelorette parties. So thankful for Jesus' protection, her sweet fiancée (now husband), and the WSDOT man!

and Abby went to the beach for the first time!

In June, a couple of our dear friends, Nick & Krista got married,

we celebrated mom's birthday

and dad finally arrived in Washington for good, just in time for Father's Day.

My parents also moved up to Burlington, Washington about an hour north of me, their new "permanent" home...or at least where they plan to settle down for awhile.

In July, I went a couple different airports a couple times and found me a Jesi and a Kristen

we loved our nuts again
we took baby Kristen to the ocean for the first time
we played tourist in several different citiessaw the best supergroup ever several times
and made some new friends!

Mom and I also went to see Owl City as a late birthday present for her, which she loved (of course I did as well).

This month, I also made my modeling debut (ha!) in an advertisement featured in the 2011 UW football game programs as part of the Go Purple, Be Gold (& Green) campaign

and Lauren threw the most fabulous party of the year to celebrate her 30th birthday.

August brought the wedding of two dear sweet friends, Shelly & Brian

our attempt at being gangsta
yay baseball?
the beginning of the dynamic duo
and lots of family time.

September brought the return of Husky football

the 10th anniversary of September 11th

Cort Dennison and the Left Backs

3 weeks of complete and utter chaos at our condo due to what we first were told was a "slow leak" underneath our floor

the end of my internship at the Mariners

and meeting someone who would change my life forever.

October (one of my favorite months of the year!) brought a new relationship

my 23rd birthday and celebrations

some incredible experience at work due to my friend (who is also my boss) having surgery, thus giving me a big chance to step up and fill in

my first time shooting a gun

our 2nd annual trip to Roloff Farms (this time mom was able to go!! - after so many years of us wanting to be able to go together)

Halloween

and one of the most special days of my life thus far, the day Heather & I were baptized at the grand opening of the new location of Mars Hill Bellevue.

November brought about the last game at the old Husky Stadium and the beginning of the reconstruction,

crockpot fever

the Apple Cup (something I'd watched on TV for so many years...admittedly rooting for the other team up until last year because of my extended family's allegiances..but i'm working on them now =)

Thanksgiving
Black Friday
and my first Seahawks game.

December brought lots of festivities and lights and a little thing called Snowflake Lane

a mani-pedi with roomie
some really tough days where I grew closer to Jesus
my good friend Alyssa (& Steven's) wedding!
Christmas
and New Years Eve!

And there you have it, dear blog readers. A little taste of my 2011. I'm tired just thinking about this past year, all the blessings that it contained, and all the lessons I learned. It was definitely a year I'll never forget, and I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for me! Until next time...xo, Molls
